We are seeking a Caretaker / General Assistant for a Tralee based position. The role of the Caretaker / General Assistant will be to ensure the general cleanliness and tidiness of the work area assigned. It will also entail the efficient and economical operation of the heating, lighting, water and sewage systems and assisting general in the efficient operation of various buildings. Duties / responsibilities: Ensure cleanliness and general tidiness of assigned work area both internally and externally within all buildings. Ensure cleanliness and servicing of wash up facilities and toilets. Ensure that all drains, water traps etc. are cleaned regularly. Ensure that the yards and loading bays are clean and tidy. Take responsibility for and control use of all cleaning equipment, including industrial cleaner, brushes etc. Take responsibility for waste removal from all areas of operation. Ensure that all lights, water taps, fans, extractor plants are turned off before lock up time. Drive forklift to move stocks and equipment as needed. Move stocks from stores delivery bay and other storage areas where required and replenish materials as requested. Report any defects or unusual occurrences to the appropriate Manager. Carry out all routine maintenance in the various assigned buildings. Carry out all general grounds maintenance. Any other duties that may specified by the Manager. Candidate requirements. Must be well motivated towards work. Work experience in construction industry. Good communication skills. Flexible with a co-operative attitude. Capable of working with team and on own initiative. Car and/or forklift driving licence. Safe Pass would be desirable but not essential. This will be an initial contract position with good prospects for a longer term position.
