Description

General Services Manager. Responsibility: Management of support services of the home to include Administration, Catering, Cleaning, Laundry and Maintenance. This position is responsible for ensuring that the home maintains a high standard of cleanliness, hygiene, catering and physical appearance. Organisation and oversight of the daily operations of the nursing home. Coordinating and supervising support staff members and leading them by example to ensure the highest quality services. Management of budgets and expenditure. Measuring the effectiveness of the service provided by conducting audits and meeting Key Performance Indicators. Ensuring that the environment and facilities in the home are maintained to a high standard of comfort for the residents and providing a welcoming atmosphere for visitors to the home. Administration: Ensure that there is a high standard of administration throughout the Nursing Home. Ensure that all administrative processes are compliant with organisational and legislative requirements. Ensure timely and accurate information is provided concerning the day-to-day running of the Nursing Home. Ensure that fee arrears are always dealt with immediately and minimised. Ensure all budgetary matters and spending is agreed in advance by the Director of Nursing and Healthcare Manager. Catering. Ensure the consistent delivery of catering to a high standard, this to include nutritional balance and variety. Compliance to HACCP and environmental health standards for food preparation. Ensuring the food service is provided to an excellent standard for all meals: warm, nutritious, presentable and varied; and that the dining experience is an enjoyable, unhurried and pleasant social occasion for all residents. Management of Chefs and kitchen personnel. Management of food budget on a monthly basis. Liaison with approved suppliers. Conduct feedback surveys from residents. Operations Management of: Cleaning. Laundry. Maintenance. Standards. Ensure proper procedure and work practices to prevent cross-infection. Adhere to Health and Safety Policy to safeguard the safety and welfare of staff, residents and others. Ensure compliance with all expected organisational and legislative standards. Overall. Work with the Director of Nursing (Person in Charge) to build a strong team and environment in the home. Participate in the selection and interviewing of staff. Liaise with Mowlam HR to ensure that practices within these functions comply with all current employment legislation. Conduct regular communication and planning meetings with staff reporting to this position. Monitor all complaints and inspections to identify and implement improvements. Work with the Director of Nursing (Person in Charge) to ensure resident's quality of life is enhanced by providing a homely and comfortable environment. Specific tasks and objectives will be agreed with the post holder periodically with the Director of Nursing. Qualifications: Third Level Qualification to underpin the skills required for the role. Strong Leadership, Organisational and Communication skills. Sound decision making ability and results driven. Ability to motivate self and others and work on own initiative. Ability to work well and promote a team environment. Good appreciation of finance issues. Ability to identify good practices in hygiene, catering and hospitality.
