Job Description: Responsible for ensuring that resources necessary to meet quality objectives are always available. Provide technical guidance to staff and be one of the signatories who approve Test Reports. Responsible for the general day-to-day practical supervision & management of the Microbiological Department facilities, staff and the services offered. Responsible for the organisation of work priorities and schedules, supervision of tests and personnel undertaking tests. To liaise with Health & Safety Officer. To inspect the laboratory regularly to ensure it is in full compliance of Good Laboratory Practice. To manage the workload of the laboratory in a manner that conforms to contractual and regulatory requirements. To perform analysis as required. To satisfy the customer base to the standard set out in the company’s policies. To train and supervise staff where necessary. To Engage in Business Development. To manage the following functions within the laboratory: Write up SOP and Validate methods. Review, revise and implement continuous improvements strategies. Monitor costings stock control and budgets. Purchase and maintain laboratory equipment. In conjunction with the Quality Manager you are responsible for ensuring the requirements of INAB are met. Ad-hoc Duties. Qualifications: Degree in Microbiology – Masters or PhD level preferred. 3 years’ experience. in a similar environment. Ability to thrive under pressure. Experience in management or previous experience of an INAB accredited laboratory is a distinct advantage. Open to learning and taking on scientific challenges.
