ABOUT THE HOSPITALS: University Hospital Kerry in Tralee is the third-largest of seven acute hospitals in the Health Service Executive (HSE) South Region. It serves as the main hospital for County Kerry and also serves the people of parts of north Cork and west Limerick, or a population of well over 150,000. Bantry General Hospital provides acute general hospital services to the population of the West Cork area extending to locations as distant as the Beara Peninsula and Mizen Head. The hospital is located approximately 60 miles from Cork University Hospital in Cork City. Bantry General Hospital is a public hospital located in Bantry, County Cork, Ireland. It is managed by the Irish Government's Health Service Executive and provides acute-care hospital services, including a 24-hour emergency department for the population of West Cork. In 2008, the hospital served 11,302 out-patients, and 2,953 in-patients, with an average stay of 9.2 nights. 86.1% of admissions were made via the accident and emergency department. The hospital saw 1,249 day cases in the same year. THE POSITION: There are vacancies across a range of specialties at Bantry General Hospital and Kerry University Hospital for both newly qualified and experienced staff nurses trained within the EU. The positions available are all full-time, permanent positions. THE LOCATIONS: Both hospitals are located in the South of Ireland. Kerry University Hospital is located in Tralee meaning "strand of the Lee (river)"). Tralee is the county town of County Kerry in the south-west of Ireland. The town is on the northern side of the neck of the Dingle Peninsula, and is the largest town in County Kerry. The town's population including suburbs was 23,691 as of the 2016 census making it the 8th largest town, and 14th largest urban settlement in Ireland. Tralee is well known for the Rose of Tralee International Festival which has been held annually in August since 1959. Bantry General Hospital is a town in West Cork, County Cork, Ireland. It lies at the head of Bantry Bay, a deep-water gulf extending for 30 km (19 mi) to the west.
